12.24.2004
Today marked the last day for Apple's Quarter 1 for Fiscal 2005. Don't worry, we did well. My personal goal was to sell $225,000, and thanks to the help of many of my coworkers, I was able to make $500,000 and the additional bonus. But it wasn't all fun and grins. Remember Big Red from my previous entry? Her and another guy, who shall remain Nameless tried to throw their own wrench into the gears.
Nameless, our only full time salesman, claimed to be $10,000 away from $500,000 yesterday, which represented a major shift of power from me being in third and over $100,000 from goal and him being in fourth place. So the race was on with many of my coworkers throwing additional sales to me to bolster my chances of hitting $500,000. As of close yesterday, for the day I had done around $55,000 in sales (thanks to all of my fellow employees) and that left $35,000 or so for today. Ironically enough, Big Red and Nameless were the two assigned to the POS all day (meaning they had the ultimate decision over what sales got rung up under whos name). As Mac Specialists would take sales to them and say, "Please ring this up under Chris," they would respond with "Well he's already made his goal." Eventually, it boiled down to a dispute between Big Red (who made goal and was shifting sales to Nameless) and one of the assistant managers who basically told Big Red, "You've made your sales goal. We're trying to help him hit $500,000 because he's so close." She didn't think it was fair because I wasn't there to help make my own goal (I had today off) yet after the manager practically said, "I'm not going to argue this with you. I'll send you home right now if you want." I was able to make goal. Thanks to the two managers and much of the seasonal help, I hit $500,000. Thanks for being great friends. Happy Holidays. frusterbated boi [
